From cardiovascular consultations to advanced imaging and diagnostic testing, Astra Healthcare provides coordinated care to help patients better understand and manage their heart health
Astra Healthcare provides clinical Cardiology evaluations supported by advanced cardiovascular testing within one coordinated practice.
Each patient’s symptoms, medical history, risk factors and previous results are carefully reviewed to determine the appropriate next steps in their care.
Coronary Calcium Scoring is a noninvasive CT examination that measures calcified plaque within the coronary arteries.
The results are reported as an Agatston score, which helps physicians assess the patient’s risk of Coronary Artery Disease and make more informed prevention and treatment decisions.
When clinically appropriate, Coronary CT Angiogram images may be evaluated using specialized software such as Cleerly or HeartFlow.
These additional analyses can provide further information about plaque composition and the potential hemodynamic effect of coronary narrowing on blood flow. These services must be requested before the scan.

A Coronary CT Angiogram uses IV contrast and may include medication to temporarily slow the heart rate. Coronary Calcium Scoring does not require contrast or an injection.
The scan is performed while you lie on the CT table and briefly hold your breath. Afterward, the results will be reviewed and any recommended next steps will be discussed with you.

A Coronary CT Angiogram uses intravenous contrast to create detailed images of the coronary arteries, including plaque and areas of narrowing. Coronary Calcium Scoring does not use contrast and measures calcified plaque to support cardiovascular risk assessment.
A Coronary CT Angiogram can help physicians evaluate the presence and location of coronary plaque, the degree of arterial narrowing and other anatomical abnormalities involving the coronary arteries.
A Coronary CT Angiogram requires intravenous contrast. Coronary Calcium Scoring does not require contrast dye or an injection.
A Coronary CT Angiogram generally takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Coronary Calcium Scoring usually takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
